Europe mobile data prices 2026

What mobile data costs a visitor in 8 European countries: the cheapest local prepaid plan for about a month, against Airalo's eSIM plans. Every price was read on the operator's own page between 16 October 2026 and 28 October 2026.

What the numbers say

  • A local plan of about a month costs less than Airalo's 10 GB for 30 days in 5 of 8 countries, and usually includes far more data. Where it costs more (Austria, Greece, Hungary), the local plan comes with 22 GB or more.
  • Local plans need a shop visit or an online order with ID in most countries, and the cheapest ones are often first-month promotions. Airalo's advantage is setup at home: it works the moment you land.
  • Airalo sells no 7-day unlimited plan for Austria.
  • With a SIM from an EU or EEA country you pay home prices in all of these countries under “Roam like at home”, so you may not need either.

How we compiled it

Each country's figures come from the research behind its eSIM guide. We read every price on the operator's or Airalo's own website on the date shown, and convert local prices to US dollars at the central bank rate for that day.

“Cheapest local plan, about a month” is the lowest-priced prepaid plan we found with at least 10 GB, or unlimited data, that lasts 28 to 31 days. It may be a promotion, and some include calls; the country guide gives the details and any SIM fee. “ID for a local SIM” is “Unclear” where we found no official rule.

We update the index when we re-check a country. Prices change often, so check the operator's page before you buy.
